DAL LAKE
The summer capital ‘Srinagar’ has a jewel for all of the visitors, the ‘Dal Lake’. Referred to as ‘Jewel in the crown of Kashmir is a very integral part from Kashmir’s tourism point of view. The 15.5 Km long shoreline of the lake has parks, Mughal era gardens, houseboats, and hotels. Nishat Bagh and Shalimar bagh offers some more scenic beauty of the lake from the shoreline. The houseboats in Dal Lake do offer the accommodation facilities as well for the tourist to make Kashmir visit more worthy while the famous ‘Shikara’ ride in Dal Lake with morning floating markets is considered to be a must-do activity while being in Kashmir.
INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL TULIP GARDEN
Another major tourist attraction of Kashmir- is ‘INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL TULIP GARDEN’. This is the largest tulip garden in Asia spread over 74 acres of land. The garden has 1.5 million multi-coloured Tulip bulbs with 65 varieties of Tulips. The garden also has 46 flowers, including daffodils, hyacinth, and many others. Built on the foothills of the Zabarwan range, the garden also gives you scenic views of Dal Lake.
SONAMARG
Witness the beautiful hill station of Sonamarg in Kashmir Valley at the height of 8,960 ft. Sonamarg offers visitors the best views of Machoi Glacier, Sirbal Peak, Kolahoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, and Machoi Peak. This place also holds historical importance as it connects Jammu and Kashmir with Tibet as a gateway on the ancient Silk Road. It also, provides trekking routes to Vishansar Lake, Krishansar Lake, Gangabal Lake, and Gadsar Lake in the Himalayas.
GULMARG-GONDOLA
What makes a Kashmir visit worth is Gulmarg and the Gondola ride out there. All the attractions in Kashmir are on one side and Gulmarg on the other. India’s most popular skiing destination Gulmarg is just 49 Km from Srinagar. Talking about the main attraction of this PLACE- ‘GONDOLA RIDE’, the ride has two phases with the second phase being at the height of 13,800 ft. Gulmarg also offers the visit of Maharani Temple and St. Mary’s Church.
BETAAB VALLEY
Quick fact- The Valley got the respective name from the super hit debut film of Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh- ‘Betaab’. The valley falls between Pahalgam and Chandanwadi is en route to Amarnath Temple Yatra. Another favourable destination for the campers as it serves as a basecamp for trekking and mountain exploration. Baisaran Lake and Tullian Lake are some of the major attractions of Betaab Valley.
